Pamela, my Grandfather, from Clarkesville TN, also called them Waspers.

I have a new friendship with them after learning how important their pollination is for us! I used to zap them with Raid as well! Ced

Well, Clarksville is about an hour from where I grew up so I suppose the waspers, and the people who dealt with them, could have all been extended family? Thanks for reading and commenting.

Jill, you should have been with us yesterday. Amazing class, and just when we drove out of the park, a huge black bear crossed the road in front of us! So now I get to sketch a black bear for my journal! Thanks for being a reader.

I am happy cohabiting with wasps until they build a nest where I have to be. Like my front porch or inside a kayak or inside our garden shed where I reach for things barely visible among the bags and jars of garden stuff. But, they are amazing creatures and many are quite beautiful.

Well Doug try to avoid the waspers that’s my advice! They usually build a small nest over our front door each summer.
